Considering the eco impact of a product involves more than just the material that the product is made from, although really important, buying UK-made products significantly contributes to this effort.
We know, the environmental toll of transporting goods over long distances, such as from China, is not great for the environment, in fact, avoiding just one return transatlantic flight will save approximately 7 times more CO2 than your domestic recycling for 1 year.
British manufacturing is also subject to more stringent regulation and relies on cleaner energy sources compared to many overseas countries. While China primarily depends on non-renewable resources for 85% of its energy, UK production uses cleaner energy sources.
Not only this, but buying locally supports our local economy, including small UK businesses. It also means no delays getting stuck in customs!
However, it's important to note that UK-made doesn't automatically equate to superior environmental friendliness, but it's a commendable step in combating greenwashing practices.
